GIngerbread competition last Sunday night at school.

Earlier in the week I was sad that I wasn’t spending the weekend making Christmas cookies with my mom for our annual holiday party. It’s the first year I am missing out on all of our annual family traditions. This weekend, however, ended up being one of the best weekends on campus!

Everyone was excited to go sledding after the snow storm Saturday night.

This campus event is extremely well attended because the school gives out prizes left and right ranging from new TVs and laptops to kitchen aid mixers to full dinners at the campus restaurants.

Between bingo games there were things like eggnog chugging contests and "Elf" spaghetti eating contests. They recreated the spaghetti from the Christmas movie Elf, which is pasta drenched in maple syrup, marshmallows, chocolate, sprinkles, candy corn, pop-tarts...basically anything with pure sugar.

We were a little intimidated by some of the serious baking and pastry students but surprisingly they loved our non-traditional beach house approach and we won!

We were a little intimidated, as culinary students, by some of the serious baking and pastry students. Surprisingly, however, the judges loved our non-traditional beach house approach and we won first place!

This weekend definietely got me in the holiday spirit.  I could not be more excited to go home to see my family and friends in a couple days!
